  3. Speak to the Greybeards at High Hrothgar.

Detailed Walkthrough[edit]

Ivarstead[edit]

After you're finished in Whiterun, you'll want to head to Ivarstead, as it is located at the foot of the 7,000 Steps leading up to High Hrothgar. Once you get there and get close to the bridge, you'll hear a conversation. Talk to one of the men, Klimmek, and learn about what dangers are lurking ahead. You can take an optional quest from him to deliver supplies to the Greybeards. You may also ask people there to tell you some information about High Hrothgar:

NameResponse
Wilhelm'The Greybeards are a solitary lot. I don't think they've ever ventured outside their monastery. We get the occasional pilgrim passing through here on their way to the summit, but almost all of them have returned disappointed.'
Klimmek'I've been to the monastery many times, but I've never even laid eyes on one of the Greybeards. Not that I'd care to. Being masters of the Thu'um, they could kill you by uttering a single word. Well, not that they would. They seem peaceful, but I wouldn't want to provoke them. '
Bassianus Axius'Klimmek brings food supplies up to them once every few weeks when the weather permits it. Other than that, they seem like a quiet lot. Don't really know too much about them.'
Boti'It's frightening living below their monastery. Sometimes I swear I can hear strange noises rolling down from up there. It sounds like thunder, but there's never any rain. What do you make of that?'
Temba Wide-Arm'The Greybeards stay away from me, and I stay away from them. Suits me just fine.'
Gwilin'Always thought it was odd that there's a layer of thick clouds covering the peak of the mountain above the monastery. Not sure what's up there, but I bet the Greybeards know.'
Jofthor'They call the path to the monastery the 7,000 Steps. Can you imagine? I'm not certain if I could even make it to the top without collapsing from exhaustion.'
Fastred'The Greybeards are a strange bunch. I heard they live their entire life without uttering a single word; can you even imagine?'
Lynly Star-Sung'I've always fancied a journey up the 7,000 Steps to the monastery. Anything to break the boredom of living in this town. I envy you.'

The 7,000 Steps[edit]

When you start on the trail up, you'll run across various leveled wildlife and monsters, and a couple of pilgrims, Barknar and Karita. You will also find various etched stone tablets ('emblems') giving you information on the history of the dragons and the Way of the Voice.

Shortly after the fourth emblem where you meet Karita, at a point where the steps are sandwiched between two cliffs, there is a frost troll that will jump from the top of one cliff if it sees you (though sometimes it may be found further up the path). For low-level characters, this can be a difficult fight. It can be avoided altogether by sneaking past it at night or scaling the cliffs nearby.

Combat strategies[edit]

  1. Frost trolls, like any other type of troll, have a weakness to fire. Thus, handy combat strategies include using weapons which have a fire enchantment, using fire-based destruction spells, and summoning a flame atronach. The Shout Fire Breath could also be used, as a word for it can be gained early on in the Companions questline.
  2. Trolls can deal a substantial amount of damage, but most of it can be avoided by tactically falling back when one sees the troll raising his arms or preparing a power attack. If you need to heal, you can sprint away; the troll will not generally outrun you. Similarly, using a shield to block the Troll's attacks can also be effective, but does depend highly on timing.
  3. It is possible to scale the rocks just before the troll, allowing you to use ranged attacks to safely eliminate it. However, the troll may regenerate its health faster than you can damage it. Using a bow with a fire enchantment or ranged destruction spells such as Firebolt would give an advantage.
  4. If you are careful, it can be killed by long distance arrows from the entrance to the ravine it lives in. Go into stealth mode, stand at the entrance to the ravine, all to the right, and shoot at the troll when you can just see it on top of the cliff. If done properly, the troll may shift left or right a little, but will not come after you; the x2 sneak attack bonus (x3 with the perk) should allow you to kill it quickly. However, if it falls off the cliff, this will not work anymore.
  5. If you retreat down the stairs, Karita, who is meditating at the tablet, will help defeat the troll.

Avoiding the fight[edit]

  1. It is easily possible to simply run past the Troll, as it moves rather slowly.
  2. Being a Nord, one can use their racial power Battle Cry to make the troll flee for 30 seconds, giving enough time to run to High Hrothgar. Similarly, being a Bosmer, one can use Command Animal to calm the troll.
  3. You can scale the rocks to the left of the ravine, and you’ll never be detected at all.

The Greybeards[edit]

High Hrothgar

After finally arriving at High Hrothgar, you'll be greeted by Master Arngeir, who speaks to you on behalf of the other Greybeards (whose voices are too powerful for conversation). After proving you are the Dragonborn by using the Unrelenting Force shout, they welcome you to their monastery and instruct you on how to use the dragon shouts, or Thu'um.

To further your training in the ways of the Thu'um, you will be taught the second word to the Unrelenting Force shout, Ro, and asked to practice it three times on ethereal targets that the Greybeards summon. Arngeir comments on how quickly you learn, then takes you outside for the next lesson. They teach you another word for Whirlwind Sprint. You'll be asked to practice it by using the shout to get through the gate Master Borri opens before it closes. When you're finished, Arngeir will send you on the last test: retrieving the Horn of Jurgen Windcaller.

Achievements[edit]

One achievement is unlocked when you complete this quest:

  • The Way of the Voice (20 points/Bronze)

Notes[edit]

  • If you activate and read all ten plaques along the 7,000 Steps, you'll receive the blessing Voice of the Sky that causes wildlife to neither flee nor attack you for 24 hours.
  • There appear to be only around 700 steps, but many may have been worn down or covered in snow over time.
  • If you consider steps as paces rather than stairs, there are around 2000 steps (when using the walking animation)
  • Despite the fact that, especially at higher levels, there are many dangerous wild animals along the 7,000 steps, the two pilgrims met along the way seem to be around the same level as the average bandit.
  • With a horse and a little cunning, you can skip both the long trip to Ivarstead and climbing the 7,000 Steps altogether. Starting at the Whiterun Stormcloak Camp, you can ride almost straight up the mountain, bypassing the dangerous creatures and the tedious long climb with only moderate difficulty.
  • If you bypass Ivarstead and the two pilgrims on the way up in this way, Karita will never be encountered, since she is set to disappear from the game once the player reaches High Hrothgar. Barknar will still be there at his position, on the way down, and so will Klimmek in Ivarstead, with his quest to deliver the goods. Unfortunately, the Frost Troll will also be there - although of course, fast-travelling directly from High Hrothgar avoids it (and all the above).
  • The shout the Greybeards use to create the attack targets for learning Ro is Fiik Lo Sah, Mirror Deceive Phantom. It is not attainable by the player except through console codes.
  • When you are asked to run through the gate before it closes using your new Whirlwind Sprint shout, you can make it through the gate in time using a regular sprint.
  • Upon completion of this quest, you will gain access to the main quest of the Dragonborn expansion.
  • Arngeir's dialogue about Whirlwind Sprint is slightly different if you already know a word of the shout. If you have learned part of the shout through word walls, you will receive the second or third part of the shout instead.

Bugs[edit]

  • If you enter High Hrothgar from the back door (where you perform the shout 'whirlwind sprint'), the Greybeards may not congregate in the hall and the quest will not progress (stuck on 'speak to Arngeir'). Exit from the front door and re-enter before speaking to Master Arngeir to progress.
    • This bug is fixed by version 1.2.4 of the Unofficial Skyrim Patch.
  • The Greybeards may attack you after you use an Unrelenting Force on them.
  • If you leave High Hrothgar after being presented the word Ro, but before learning (absorbing) the word on the floor, you may not be able to learn the word when you return. This can also happen in very rare cases even if you do not leave (more likely to happen later in the game if you have put off doing the main quest). This can break the main quest. There is no workaround for this other than reloading a previous save from before the word is presented to you.
  • If you interrupt Einarth while he's casting Ro on the floor by talking to him or shouting at him, it may not appear. ?
    • Save and re-load the game, and he should resume the casting.
  • When asked to demonstrate the Voice, the spectres may not appear.
    • Open your inventory and close it again and the spectre should appear.
  • In demonstrating Whirlwind Sprint, Master Wulfgar may inadvertently send himself flying off the mountain. ?

Voice of the Sky[edit]

Reading all ten Emblems (in order?) on the way up appears to give you the blessing 'Voice of the Sky', which prevents animals from either attacking or fleeing from you for 24h. 124.170.15.129 07:18, 15 November 2011 (UTC)

Not sure if it's necessary to do this in order as I've received it without doing all emblems in order. However, see below for my experience with VotS.24.84.133.137 02:33, 25 November 2011 (UTC)
Any order should do; I've done it missing a few in between, but not sure if VotS is only activated when reading the last one (Emblem X).WalB 16:25, 8 December 2011 (UTC)
This appears to be 24 real hours when compared with other active spell effects, but after receiving VotS it was listed as 23 (ostensibly due to the countdown timer already rolling over the first second of 24 hours). Further, it appeared to wear off incredibly quickly after my descent of the Throat of the World. It neither wore off in 24 game hours, nor 24 real hours; it seemed to wear off after about a half an hour real-time (I can't be sure exactly how long as I didn't notice when it no longer was active. It does not seem to last as described. 24.84.133.137 02:31, 25 November 2011 (UTC)

Glitch with demonstration targets[edit]

So I encountered this glitch. When the greybeards step up and summon the targets, the effects are shown but the target doesn't actually appear. I figured out that in order for them to appear, just wait for the blue effect to appear then just go to the menu. The target will then appear.

I edited this into the article Askew 10:31, 28 January 2012 (UTC)

Path is Leveled?[edit]

It would appear the encounters of animals on the journey up to the greybeards are leveled. When going up the 7,000 steps, my level 26 found a snow bear, snow wraith, and troll instead of wolves.

WaneStars 04:32, 19 November 2011 (UTC)

At earliest, I've encountered a frost troll at ~6. I had to flee. I think that's not a very balanced encounter for one of the earlier main quests.-Zydrate[][] 19:03, 23 November 2011 (UTC)
I have also encountered frost wraiths and a troll at a level below ten, but while they were difficult to kill, I doubt their level was much higher than mine. --Velyanthe 17:49, 28 December 2011 (UTC)
The path is leveled. At level 36 I encountered two Snow Bears, a Cave Bear and a Troll about halfway down from the point where the mandatory troll is. This wouldn't really be much of a problem, since I'm a stealthy assassin-esque character with the second level of Marked for Death unlocked, but they were very close together. There were no wolves. Strangely, the pilgrims seemed completely unharmed until I killed them.Snowskeeper: Till Hell Freezes Over 02:38, 4 February 2012 (UTC)

Quest stages[edit]

Upon entering the temple, I was at MQ105.20, not 1. After demonstrating Unrelenting Force I was at 56. Before learning 'Ro' I was at 60. After getting 'Ro' off the floor, I was at 70. After Master Einarth 'allowed me to tap into his understanding of 'Ro' I was at 76. When the 'Demonstrate, 0/3' floating text appeared, I advanced to stage 80. When the first target appeared, the stage advanced to 85. The stage did not advance again until I accomplished (3/3) demonstrations, when the stage became 90. Arngeir told me to follow Master Borri, and the stage advanced to 100. Borri walked outside but the others didn't, and the quest stalled until I went back inside and talked to Arngeir, then Arngeir and the other masters walked outside. Stage was still 100, but Arngeir, Einarth, and Wulfgar finished shuffling into position, Borri spoke Wuld and the stage hit 103; Wuld appeared on the stones and the stage advanced to 105. I learned Wuld, stage 110; 'tapped' Borri, stage 115. Once the floating text arrived instructing me to demonstrate Wuld, the stage was 120. I think when Borri 'Bex'es the gate it goes to 125 and when Wulfgar Whirlwind Sprints through it it advances to 127. Sprinted through the gate, got floating text 'Speak to Arngeir for further traininer' and hit stage 140.

I don't know how much of that needs to go into the article - and the frequency of 5s, 6s, 7s, etc, in the numbers I pulled makes me wonder how many mid-stages I might've missed by not checking getstage more often - but the demarcation of 'done by stage 25' might mislead some people. Wuld Exploit[edit]

Is this known to work with any other words people give you? --Debatra 00:39, 2 January 2012 (UTC)

Only Paarthunax gives you another word, and it seems to work with him, though not quite correctly. However if you have Wuld and have it souled already, Arngeir has unique dialogue for that event. — Unsigned comment by 184.63.101.192 (talk) at 00:12 on 14 February 2012
Tried it with Unrelenting Force. Doesn't work.
Another thing to be noted is that if you DO use the Wuld exploit, the next time you encounter a word wall containing one of the wuld words you won't learn the next word. You'll still be forced to find the last one to get the whole phrase. Same goes with Fire breath (the one Parthunaax teaches you) — Unsigned comment by 96.41.225.122 (talk) at 14:51 on 23 May 2012

gate[edit]

the gate that u have to whirlwind sprint through befor it closes is it possible to use slow time to get through as well?86.164.254.29 18:56, 3 January 2012 (UTC)

Quite possible, my Altemer just sprinted through without using any shout and the quest progressed normally. --Zar Pof 17:31, 10 January 2012 (UTC)
So long as you get through the gate. I don't think the first two stages of Slow Time boost your speed enough to pass through in time (unless you could do it naturally, of course..)Snowskeeper: Till Hell Freezes Over 02:43, 4 February 2012 (UTC)

Quest Image[edit]

I have replaced the quest image. It's not a perfect photo, but I can't figure out how to brighten it without losing contrast on the Dragon word. The previous photo is really high-quality, beautiful really, and it certainly belongs somewhere. I am not sure which I think is better, but I went ahead and did it this way. If anyone has advice, like reverting and then renaming my photo (or just reverting), please tell me what you would do, (e.g., what name to give it), or just do it. --Jreynolds2 03:27, 10 February 2012 (UTC)

Bug - verification needed[edit]

Copied from article:

If you leave High Hrothgar after being presented the word Ro, but before learning (absorbing) the word on the floor.. the game in some cases may not let you learn the word when you return. This can also happen in very rare cases even if you do not leave (more likely to happen later in the game if you have put off doing the main quest). This bug makes the main quest line fail to continue. This needs verification. --Xyzzy 17:17, 11 May 2012 (UTC)

I can verify that this happens because I myself have experienced this glitch and have been forced to load a previous save. сειεςτίαι (talk) 04:02, 13 March 2013 (GMT)Celestial 22:59, 11 March 2013 (EDT)
Ok, it's verified, but should it be in the article? It's possible to completely screw up many quests by simply not doing what you are supposed to do. I don't think we should be documenting bugs that result from willfully not following quest steps. --XyzzyTalk 05:38, 5 July 2013 (GMT)
I would agree that it shouldn't be documented on the article, for the reason you stated. If you do something unexpected, you'll have unexpected results. Not noteworthy. — ABCface 15:44, 5 July 2013 (GMT)

No frost troll[edit]

I went up the 7,000 steps for the first time on this character, and where I expected to see the frost troll, it was not there! My character is level eight. I wonder if this has to do with being a low level? 68.1.172.2 04:17, 29 June 2012 (UTC)

  • Update: Actually, the frost troll exists, instead of spawining on the wall just before the fifth emblem where he usually does I found him running down the path way after the fifth emblem. This is very unusual. I've never seen this before. 68.1.172.2 04:20, 29 June 2012 (UTC)
  • I have seen the troll appear in various locations in the area, just because I did a fair amount of experimenting with it. I think if you are walking along at a normal pace and following the trail, it will pretty much be the same experience of the troll jumping down onto the trail from the cliff. If you are sneaking (perhaps), or if you pause, or walk around at all because you're looking for it, it's likely to appear nearby, but not necessarily jumping onto the path in front of you from the cliff. --JR (talk) 04:40, 12 January 2013 (GMT)

Needs rewording[edit]

From article:

  • Not sure if this is really a bug, but when climbing the steps and before actually making troll jump off the cliff, you may try to reach the dragon flying above with an arrow. He then may end up fighting the troll (some buggy animation appeared on my XBOX), letting you kill both the dragon (weakened by the troll) and then the troll (weakened by the dragon).

This needs to be reworked majorly for formal tone and to remove the first-person voice used here. --Somercy (talk) 11:16, 18 September 2012 (GMT)

There is no dragon near the troll--at least if you do the quest before you reach the level at which dragons begin to spawn. --JR (talk) 04:36, 12 January 2013 (GMT)

Possible Dragonborn Target Glitch[edit]

I reached the point of the quest where I was instructed to strike the targets but was unable to rendering me stuck at quest stage 80. I manually set the stage to 105 so whirlwind sprint appeared outside and then set the stage to 140 and was able to continue from that point. Attempt to change the quest global for MQ105 Targets Hit (spaced added due to censor) didn't update the quest log and attempting to advance to any intermediate stages did not work as Bori continued to create images rather then following the new stage pathing outside. If anyone could verify that would be great. Lasserith - 2/5/13 — Unsigned comment by 108.250.53.155 (talk) at 22:42 on 5 February 2013

Bug Workaround Needs Verification[edit]

I have removed this edit by User:Kitdoctor for the 'Ro' bug. Quote follows:

If this does not work, when the first apparition appears, type this in the console: setstage mq105 82. When the second apparition appears, type: setstage mq105 85. When the third apparition appears, type: setstage mq105 90. The quest will advance even though it only shows you completed 0 out of 3.

'setstage mq105 90' is enough to bypass this bug.
--Southern Discomfort (talk) 15:46, 27 February 2013 (GMT)
Changing quest stages to 82 and 85 as recommended didn't work for me, although I didn't test it thoroughly. I did, however, discover that if you time your unrelenting force shout so that it hits the target just as it's disappearing it will count as a hit. More specifically, during the less than one second interval where the ghost target is completely invisible but before it actually despawns. Purely speculation, but maybe it has something to do with animations? The target doesn't go into its stagger animation when you hit it normally, but if you hit it during its bow out animation while it's disappearing, it counts. (at least for me it did.) — Unsigned comment by 96.8.242.83 (talk) at 02:17 on 4 March 2013
This (above) worked for me as well. You have to get the timing right (I counted to about 7 before shouting)and it seemed to count as a hit 26 March 2013
Ran into the same bug. Setting the quest stages worked fine and I was able to do the rest of the quest normally. Aparently the targets are invulnerable to shouts since I managed to shout down every greybeard and item in the room. — Unsigned comment by 84.128.255.182 (talk) at 19:46 on 16 March 2013

Greaybeards combat stance bug[edit]

I encountered a bug where after the first time I entered High Hrothgar all the Greaybeard raised their fists ready for combat and were slowly walking south. I was not able to interact with them and couldn't continue the quest because of this. Shouting at the Greaybeard or reentering the Area did not fix this Problem. In the contrary leaving High Hrothgar made them leave it as well. I don't know how this bug occured because there were no signs of enemies nearby. Realoading a save before entering didn't solve the Problem either. Is there a way to fix this? I don't really want to use the console to complete the quest because it will not change the stat the Greaybeards are in meaning that I would have to do every quest this way. Bugs Cleanup[edit]

  • If you have previously attained a dragon soul between this quest and Dragon Rising, you can unlock 'Wuld' before you are given the knowledge of its power. This will result in the Greybeard giving you the second Whirlwind word without having to find the proper word wall. In order to do this, when you learn 'Wuld' from the ground in the courtyard, immediately go into your shouts menu and use a dragon soul to upgrade the shout before the Greybeard can give you his knowledge. However, the next time you encounter a Word Wall containing the word 'Na', you will not learn any word, and you will still be required to hunt down the final wall containing the word 'Kest'. This same trick can repeated with Paarthurnax in a later quest and carries the same penalty. However, it cannot be done with 'Ro.'
  • Similar to the bug above if you have waited and received 'whirlwind' from a wordwall beforehand they will take notice and indicate that they will teach you 'Fury' (lvl 2). Doing the above trick will grant both Fury and Tempest (lvl3)
  • When asked to demonstrate your Unrelenting Force shout after learning Ro, sometimes the targets summoned by the Greybeards fail to appear. A workaround appears to be possible by entering the 'Items' menu. When accessed, the apparitions will materialize in the background. You can then exit the menu and target them with your shout.
  • If you move around in the room while demonstrating your Unrelenting Force shout the targets may not react to it. To solve this stand next to Arngeir and use the shout on the targets.
  • Sometimes there will be no option to say that you're 'ready to learn' when speaking to Arngeir.

These bugs have sat unconfirmed long enough. Silence is GoldenBreak the Silence 21:04, 17 August 2013 (GMT)

I can confirm one of those, but it's not really a bug, it's a feature. This one:
  • If you move around in the room while demonstrating your Unrelenting Force shout the targets may not react to it. To solve this stand next to Arngeir and use the shout on the targets.
Well, yes, if you miss the target, of course it won't react. Fortunately, the game accepts that you might be clumsy and allows you to try as many times as it takes to hit 3 phantasms. I know because it took me 5 or 6 tries as I kept trying to avoid hitting Iona. Emma of Falkreath (talk) 04:15, 15 November 2017 (UTC) Emma

Bug: Borri not writing Wuld on the snow.[edit]

So this just happened to me: Arngeir tells me to learn Wuld from Borri, but Borri would not write Wuld on the ground. Quitting Skyrim and reloading saves didn't fix the problem. I am running a modded game, so there may be something interferring with it. I'm posting the solution here in case it happens to anyone else (As unlikely as that is, but you never know).

Type getstage mq105 in the console, it should return as 103. Then type setstage mq105 105. This will cause the word for Wuld to appear in the snow and the quest to progress as normal.121.99.60.113 13:34, 12 September 2013 (GMT)

Mods are going to be what causes the interference. We don't list things that come from unofficial mods on the site, however, so while this information is appreciated, it doesn't really belong here. ThuumofReason (talk) 14:26, 12 September 2013 (GMT)

@ The 7,000 Steps[edit]

Isn't it a bit too much strategy in the detailed walkthrough, regarding that troll? Thought, in this wiki that shouldn't be … In addition I miss a hint to the dragon, that spawns with – IMHO – a relatively high probability shortly before the sitting pilgrim (don't know her name now). And she and the one from Ivarstead could be named in this article, too.
I'm not sure if my English's good enough for rewriting … -- CompleCCity (talk) 10:00, 17 March 2014 (GMT)

You're right, detailed strategy shouldn't be mentioned here. I've also added the pilgrims' names, per your suggestion. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to find the trigger that spawns (or may spawn) a dragon. That's not to say it isn't there, but the whole place is just covered in triggers for the various weather effects, so if there's a spawn trigger there somewhere, I may well have missed it. I'll try going there in-game and see if I can get something to spawn to narrow down where to look.
Finally, don't feel that your English has to be great to post on the page, as long as you have the info. The patrollers and administrators will correct any spelling or grammar errors, but it makes it easier if the information is already there. Robin Hood(talk) 16:05, 17 March 2014 (GMT)
I've just gone up the steps several times in-game and haven't triggered a dragon once. I think I've encountered a dragon there once or twice before, but not with any regularity. Maybe you've just been unlucky. Robin Hood(talk) 16:51, 17 March 2014 (GMT)

TWO dragons going up the steps![edit]

Don't know if it was a glitch or what but heading up to High Hrothgar, just before the frost troll I was attacked by two dragons: One was a blood dragon and the other popped up with the name Karita onscreen where enemies appear: I ran ahead towards the frost troll hoping the dragons might help me fight him and got pinned between the blood dragon and the troll: I fought with the blood dragon for a minute before finally defeating it and realized I was back near the shrine: After collecting the dragon soul , I realized the girl at the shrine was still sitting there only a few feet from where I finished the blood dragon: The other dragon had disappeared: In previous journeys the girl at the shrine had died a few times helping fight the troll or a stray saber cat: This time she was there in front of the shrine in her usual position: I initiated the usual conversation with the usual responses and then realized her name 'Karita'; same as the second dragon name that popped up: I killed the pilgrim Karita and found dragon scale armor and a Talos amulet. Coincidence or what? ≈≈≈≈ — Unsigned comment by 98.81.61.192 (talk) at 13:14 on 26 January 2015 (GMT)

Her health bar was being displayed because she would have been in combat with the dragons. Your cursor was probably pointing to her in the foreground with the dragon behind her. Zul se onikaanLaan tinvaak 19:25, 26 January 2015 (GMT)

Discoveries[edit]

I realised a few things when doing the Whirlwind Sprint part:

  • The gate can be walked through.
  • There is actually an invisible gate a few metres before the actual gate (it can only be activated when the actual gate is closed).
  • I used the Whirlwind Sprint shout to get through the open gate, then lingered around it a little before heading back to Arngeir, which is where I found the invisble gate (probably explaining why there was an invisible solid barrier). For a currently unknown reason, Borri was saying 'Bex!' numerous times, which actually closed as well as opening the gate. Arngeir told me to try again when I started walking back to him, but when I get back, he starts the dialogue regarding the final trial in Ustengrav.

Thoughts and where shall I integrate it into the article? Dragon Guard(talk) 20:11, 11 April 2015 (GMT)

The first and second probably aren't worth mentioning. As for the third, did you actually complete the task? If you were able to sprint through the gate before it closed, it may have just been a consequence of his dialogue starting before you completed the task and you finishing before the conditions updated for the dialogue. If the task was marked completed in your journal, then I wouldn't think anything is wrong. Zul do onikaanLaan tinvaak 13:07, 12 April 2015 (GMT)

Workaround for Greybeards attacking during demonstration[edit]

It doesn't work for the first demonstration but during the Ro demonstration, selecting each Greybeard in the console and entering 'setav assistance 0' prevents them from entering combat with you, which I figure is because their apparitions are in their faction. This suggests that a likely cause of the bug is a mod (probably a follower/ally mod) messing with their actor values (perhaps also friendly hits ignored?). Therefore, another possible workaround might be temporarily disabling mods that are likely culprits. Just my ideas.--Jnutter819hi 04:07, 22 July 2016 (UTC)
